Our Mission

Empowering Brain Injury Recovery & Resilience

We believe in the transformative power of yoga, meditation, and mindfulness for brain injury recovery.

Our mission is to improve lives and raise vital awareness about brain injury.  Working to reduce stigma, encourage early intervention, and advocating for a world of greater understanding and holistic support.

We provide free, accessible, research-backed classes and programs designed to nurture neuroplasticity, significantly reduce stress, and enhance overall well-being.

By cultivating a supportive and inclusive community, we're dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for individuals on their recovery journey.

Why this matters:

Brain injury recovery is a challenging and complex journey, frequently invisible, leaving those affected to be misunderstood and without the compassionate care they deserve.  Brain injuries often lead to isolation, unemployment, strained relationships, and mental health challenges.  This is compounded by a lack of adequate community-based services, resources, and access.

We're Here to Change That.

Vision:

A world where every individual affected by brain injury is:

  • Empowered to live a fulfilling life by accessing their innate resilience.

  • Encouraged to find wholeness by embracing their present moment.

  • Supported in their journey to recovery by a compassionate community.

By combining the profound benefits of yoga and mindfulness with strong community, Brain Waves Yoga™ empowers individuals, enhances well-being, and cultivates a more understanding world for everyone.

Jacqui is a 500-hour certified yoga instructor and Yoga Alliance member.  Her journey into yoga began as a professional dancer and actress (BFA Rutgers University).  She discovered the transformative power of Ashtanga-based yoga and developed a daily practice to complement her physically demanding lifestyle and nourish her soul.  Yoga became her sanctuary, a place where she could find balance, strength, and peace.

After suffering a brain injury, yoga became a lifeline for her as she navigated the challenges and complexities of recovery.  Through mindfulness and meditation, she uncovered a strength and resilience leading her to a renewed sense of self and purpose.  The power of yoga, pranayama, and meditation were her tools for healing and she experienced firsthand the transformative effects of the ancient practice finding solace and a renewed sense of wholeness.  This personal experience deepened her commitment to guiding others on their own paths of recovery and well-being.

Drawing on her extensive background in dance, Jacqui infuses her classes with a graceful flow, mindful breathwork, and a deep sense of embodiment.  She guides students through gentle flows and restorative poses, creating a space for relaxation, rejuvenation, and self-discovery.

Jacqui is deeply committed to making yoga accessible for all.  She brings a wealth of knowledge, with over 600 hours of yoga teacher training and specialized certifications in LoveYourBrain Yoga & Facilitation, Accessible Yoga with Jivana Heyman, Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR).  This extensive background uniquely qualifies her to guide others through challenging recoveries, particularly those related to brain injury.

Jacqui's holistic approach is further enhanced by her comprehensive training in various somatic movement techniques, including the Feldenkrais Method, Alexander Technique, Pilates, and the Loyd Williamson Technique.  This combination of artistic movement and somatic training allows her to teach from a creative and supportive perspective, providing diverse tools and techniques for resilience and well-being.

As an active partner and LoveYourBrain (LYB) Mindset program facilitator with the LoveYourBrain Foundation, Jacqui extends her dedication beyond the mat.  Whether you are a seasoned yogi or a complete beginner, her classes offer a nurturing environment where you can safely connect with your body, mind, and soul.

Join Jacqui on a journey of self-discovery and transformation.
